Privacy, transparency and traveller control
Privacy and Cookie Policy
Effective and last updated: 9 September 2026
1. Who is responsible
DayOneFlyer.com is an independent travel-information website operated from South Africa for an international audience. For privacy requests, access, correction, deletion or objections, contact privacy@dayoneflyer.com.
2. Information currently handled
The website may receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure a web request, such as an IP address, device or browser information, requested pages, timestamps and diagnostic logs. If a visitor voluntarily joins the early-access waitlist, we store the supplied email address, consent date, signup source and subscription status. DayOneFlyer does not currently offer user accounts, accept payments or intentionally collect passport, payment or special-category information.
3. Necessary browser storage
We use necessary local browser storage to remember a visitor’s privacy choice, policy version and choice date. We also remember when the homepage waitlist prompt is dismissed or completed so it does not repeatedly appear on the same device. This storage does not create a DayOneFlyer advertising profile.
4. Optional analytics and affiliate technologies
Optional analytics and affiliate measurement remain disabled unless a visitor gives permission where consent is required. No analytics provider or affiliate tracking partner is currently active. When partners are added, this policy and the consent manager will be updated with the provider, purpose, data involved and applicable retention period before the technology is enabled.
5. Consent and changing your choice
Visitors may accept all, reject non-essential technologies or manage categories separately. Refusing optional technologies does not prevent access to our guides. Consent can be changed at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. A browser Global Privacy Control signal disables affiliate measurement on this site.
6. Affiliate and external links
Clearly identified affiliate links may direct visitors to third-party booking or retail websites. The external provider controls its own website, cookies, booking and privacy practices. DayOneFlyer does not receive a visitor’s full card details or control the provider’s independent processing. Review the provider’s privacy notice before completing a transaction.
7. Legal grounds and purposes
Necessary processing is used to deliver, secure and maintain the website and to meet legal obligations. Optional analytics, affiliate technologies and early-access marketing emails rely on consent where required. Waitlist details are used only to send occasional DayOneFlyer guides and selected travel deals. We do not use consent as a condition for reading the site.
8. Sharing and international processing
Technical information may be processed by service providers that host, secure or deliver the website. Future analytics and affiliate providers will be listed before activation. Some providers may process information in other countries and must use an appropriate legal transfer mechanism where applicable.
9. Retention and security
Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the stated purpose, security, dispute handling or legal requirements. Waitlist details are retained while a person remains subscribed and are removed or suppressed when consent is withdrawn. Consent choices remain on the visitor’s device until cleared or replaced by a later policy version. We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on location and applicable law, visitors may have rights to information, access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, consent withdrawal, and to opt out of certain sale, sharing or targeted advertising. Requests may be sent to the privacy address above. Identity may need to be reasonably verified before fulfilling a request.
11. Children
DayOneFlyer is a general travel-information service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information should contact us.
12. Complaints and updates
Visitors may contact us first so we can address a concern. They may also complain to the data-protection authority responsible for them, including South Africa’s Information Regulator where applicable. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date and, when necessary, renewed consent.
