Singapore first-day guide

From Changi Airport to a settled first day

Confirm the terminal, choose the city route, solve the early check-in gap and keep the first outing close to the hotel.

First-day arrival plan

Your first 24 hours in Singapore, clearly mapped

Plan the route from Changi Airport to your hotel, allow for check-in or luggage storage, and keep the first meal or activity close to your base. A realistic first 24 hours leaves room for delays, rest and one worthwhile local experience.

Changi to hotel

Choose the lowest-friction route

Changi has four passenger terminals. Check the terminal on the booking and allow time for immigration, baggage and any terminal transfer.

  1. 01

    MRT via Tanah Merah

Take the airport train and change at Tanah Merah for the East–West Line towards the city. This suits many central hotels before the last service.

  2. 02

    MRT via Expo

Change at Expo for the Downtown Line when it provides a more direct route to Bugis, Bayfront or Downtown.

  3. 03

    Taxi or ride-hailing

Official guidance estimates about 30 minutes and roughly S$25–S$45 to the city before surcharges. Traffic, terminal and time of day change the total.

Choose a food court, hawker centre or familiar casual restaurant near the hotel, followed by one short local walk.
